The role of recovery and wellness coaching in overcoming drug and alcohol use

Session Summary:

The presentation will set out how services to support people to overcome drug and alcohol use/dependency can and need to transform, with a focus on the role of recovery and wellness coaching.

We will look at the shift from pure Harm Reduction to Recovery focussed interventions and the movement from Biomedical approaches to Biopsychosocial ones.

The presentation will highlight the importance of focussing on the person and not the substance, and will look at the need to consider people’s health and wellbeing in the widest sense in order to support them into recovery.
