Using supervision to support and enhance professional practice and avoid burnout
“In supervision we rewrite our stories of our practice. It wakes us up to what we are doing”
Sheila Ryan in ‘Vital Practice” 2004
In this session we explore what supervision is, how it works, and why it is so critical for people who work with people, to ensure sustained wise, courageous, creative and compassionate professional practice – without burnout.
The Coaching Supervision Academy has been established for 14 years and is the top international provider of supervision training and supervision to Executive Coaches, Human Resource, Organisational Development, Leaders, Educators and People Professionals. Relationship with self, other and the wider context of practice is placed at the heart of the supervisory inquiry, because WHO you are is HOW you work.
In this session we will explore:
What is supervision? Offering a working definition of supervision and an outline of the 3 core functions of supervision to support you and your practice
Why Bother? Explaining why attending WHO you are is HOW you work is so foundational to the people professions. Exploring what can get in the way of being our best selves in our work
What does supervision cover? Giving examples of types of questions/themes people might bring to supervision and opening up the floor to participants
What does a session look like? Working with Theory U model (Sharmer/Senge) and CSA’s WHO you is HOW you Talk model as a roadmap for inquiry
Why does supervision matter? Supervision’s role in our VUCA world: the limitations of expert knowledge and working with what is wanting to emerge
